Tom Andersen isn't your typical politician. The son of a minister devoted to social justice, he’s passionate about making Salem and Oregon better for all. Tom is a proven leader with a bipartisan record for getting things done.

Tom’s long record of service to South Salem includes eight years as a Salem City Councilor and four years as a State Representative.

In his first two legislative terms, he:

• Advanced legislation to protect Oregonians from the current federal administration’s harmful intrusions
• Helped Oregon confront its homelessness and housing shortage crises
• Worked to make Oregon affordable for all
• Supported women’s rights and reproductive healthcare
• Protected our natural resources and environmental safeguards
• Supported campaign finance limits to curtail big money’s influence
• Delivered millions of dollars of state funding for Salem.

In his next term, Tom will work hard to:

• Fight reckless federal policies
• Continue to address the high cost of living
• Push for affordable housing and address our homelessness crisis
• Continue statewide action in response to our climate crisis
• Invest in students, teachers, and our education system
• Strengthen gun safety laws
• Reimburse Salem for fire, EMS, and police services it provides to the state without compensation
• Advocate for racial, social, and economic justice.

Tom and his wife Jessica have lived in Salem for 20 years. His two sons, a lawyer and a physician, live in Oregon. He’s a competitive swimmer and commutes by bicycle.
