In the 2025 legislative session, she supported SB 430 banning junk fees and hidden charges, HB 3546, preventing large energy users like data centers from shifting grid expansion costs onto residential rate payers - both key pieces of legislation to reduce the cost of living for Oregonians. She supported establishing a permanent statewide shelter system with ongoing funding and transitional housing. She also secured nearly $2 million for a park project in Woodburn, nearly $1 million for the Woodburn Head Start program’s modular building replacement, and $6.8 million for the Salem food bank.
During the 2026 legislative short session, Lesly introduced the Protect Your Door Act, which would hold ICE agents accountable for the damage they cause. She was key in passing the Immigrant Justice Package, which included: HB 4138 (LEAVA), HB 4117 (Universal Representation), SB 1570 (Healthcare Without Fear), HB 4079 (Safeguarding Students and Families), SB 1587 (Stop Data Brokers), and HB 4111 (Anti-Discrimination Protections). She also passed wage theft protections and enforcement mechanisms.
In only a year’s time, Lesly became a co-chair of the BIPOC caucus. She brings an equity lens to any space she enters. She is a full-time professional and mother of 4 wonderful children. She is passionate about advocating for working moms, school teachers, union workers and representatives, working-class families, and voters in NE Salem, Woodburn, Brooks, and Gervais.
