"It is an honor to serve our community as a judge. For the past 6 years, I have presided over all manner of cases--civil, family, criminal, juvenile, and mental health law. Every case before me matters, and is important to the community. Every day, I work to ensure people who enter my courtroom are respected, heard, and understand the court’s ruling. Each case deserves to be decided justly, fairly, and according to the law."

Judge Shugar grew up in Lane County, educated in our public schools and universities. Public service and giving back to the community are important values in her family. As a mentor, and instructor at the University of Oregon School of Law, Judge Shugar inspired students with enthusiasm for service through internships and public interest work.
